SAVE OUR HIPPODROME

The Brighton Hippodrome is a Grade II* listed building which The Theatres Trust have declared the ‘most at-risk’ theatre in the UK. We made this video for Save Our Hippodrome (SOH), a group of campaigners trying to stop the historic venue from being turned into a multiplex cinema.

We met with SOH and suggested they organise a protest outside the Hippodrome for us to film, along with a commentary from TV magician Paul Zenon. We also got statements of support from actor Kevin Bishop and parliamentary candidates from all leading parties including MP for Brighton Pavilion Caroline Lucas.

The resulting video received more than 50,000 views within a week, was reported on by two local newspapers, and helped get the Hippodrome on the agenda at the next full council meeting. I’m pleased to say it was announced shortly afterwards that the venue would not be sold to developers.”
